Police: Woman Assaulted at Maple Grove’s Elm Creek Park Reserve

After a woman was assaulted at a popular Maple Grove park, investigators are asking the public for help identifying a suspect.

According to a press release, the incident occurred on Sunday morning at Elm Creek Park Reserve.

A woman called police at approximately 8:30 a.m. reporting that a man forced her to the ground and placed a shirt over her mouth before running away.

Police conducted an extensive search of the park and surrounding area but did not find the suspect.

The victim described the assailant as a heavy-set Hispanic male in his 30s, shirtless and wearing bright blue shorts. He may have been carrying a grey shirt during the assault.

Police are asking for the public’s assistance in the investigation. Anyone with additional information can contact Maple Grove police by calling 952-258-5321 or through Hennepin County dispatch by calling 911.

Additional patrols will be in the park as the investigation continues. 

Police are encouraging park users to stay aware of their surroundings, report suspicious activity, and consider walking or running with a companion.
