Plymouth’s Len Busch Roses Introduces Popular New Flower

If you have ever purchased a bouquet from a local flower shop in the region, chances are it was grown nearby in Plymouth at Len Busch Roses.

Now, the longtime commercial grower is drawing attention with a vibrant new addition to its greenhouses: a unique pomponi gerbera daisy known as the “Hades.”

Unlike the traditional single-layer daisy shape, the pomponi gerbera daisy features a dense, multi-petaled bloom that closely resembles a seasonal dahlia.

The flower on the left is a tradition daisy, while the flower on the right is the pamponi gerbera daisy.

Len Busch Roses product manager John Stoy noted that the company began expanding production after strong early test results.

“We liked its performance, and so this year we actually bought enough plants to do a bed of production,” Stoy said.

Beyond its distinct appearance, the crop offers practical benefits for both growers and consumers.

Growers say the variety boasts a longer vase life than many standard seasonal flowers. It also provides a steady business boost because it can be cultivated indoors year-round.

“This is just now a staple crop — we sell it every day,” Stoy said. “We sell it to regular retail florists, and we sell it to mass merchandisers in consumer bunches so that people shopping anywhere can grab and go with a bunch of brightly colored, excellent flowers.”

Len Busch Roses currently distributes its locally grown flowers to retail florists and markets within a 200-mile radius.
