New Hope Council Special Election Primary: Hamilton Wins; Ray in Second By 2 Votes

Primary election voters in New Hope have narrowed the field for the November special election for a city council seat down to two candidates.

Based on preliminary election results, Rachelle Hamilton was the top vote-getter with 44.60 percent of the vote, or 1,346 votes.

Brock Ray, who is currently on the council, is currently in second place by a narrow two-vote margin.

Ray received 27.73 percent of the vote, or 837 votes.

Mark Wagner came in third with 27.67 percent or 835 votes.

If the vote counts are maintained as-is through canvassing, Hamilton and Ray will be on the November ballot.

Meanwhile, four candidates are vying for an additional two seats on the city council.

Those four candidates are Danielle Plantz, Jeffrey S. Miller, Duane Maupin and Kyle Coryell.

Coryell is a sitting council member.

New Hope
