Maple Grove Fireworks Stand Preps for ‘Banner Year’ Ahead of America 250

The Fourth of July is just around the corner and an independently owned fireworks stand in Maple Grove is gearing up for its second season. Backed by major lessons learned from their debut year, the owners are ready to take on the big corporate competition.

Natalie Everhart, co-owner of Cherry Bomb Fireworks, admits that launching the business last summer came with a steep learning curve and plenty of stress.

“I know that it’s not going to be super busy at first, so don’t freak out, don’t panic,” Everhart laughed, recalling the slow start to the season. “Last year, I’m not going to lie, I was really nervous—I was kind of freaking out. But this year, no, I’m not nearly as nervous.”

That confidence comes from a strong finish last summer. In its first year, Cherry Bomb Fireworks discovered that local shoppers had an appetite for premium items, completely buying out their higher-end fountain fireworks within just a few days.

Heading into year two, Everhart and her boyfriend/business partner, Cobey Bullock, adjusted their strategy. They added roughly 70 new products to their inventory to meet demand and keep up with larger, corporate-backed tents.

Cherry Bomb Fireworks is located near the intersection of Wedgewood Lane and 80th Avenue in Maple Grove.

Anticipating a Historic Holiday

With the United States celebrating its 250th birthday, the semiquincentennial, Everhart expects a massive turnout from the community.

“With it being [the country’s] 250th, it couldn’t work out any better, that’s for sure,” Everhart said. “So we’re super psyched about that. We definitely think it’s going to be a busy season.”

Cherry Bomb Fireworks is located in the parking lot of the Maple Grove Kohl’s department store. The tent will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily through July 5.
