Local Organizations Gift Woman $20K Kitchen Remodel
A Minneapolis woman received a free kitchen remodel, all thanks to the generosity of a Maple Grove construction company and a Brooklyn Park nonprofit.
Sergio Peña, president and CEO of Maple Grove-based Renewal Experts Construction, spent three weeks outfitting the kitchen with new cabinets, appliances, flooring and countertops — a value of about $20,000.
“There’s tons of power in giving. I was super happy to do it,” said Peña. “There’s a lot of people in that house, and I’m sure they all had a better Christmas because of it.”

A Minneapolis homeowner posed with Sergio Peña of Maple Grove’s Renewal Experts Construction in her new kitchen.
The Minneapolis homeowner is a client of the nonprofit, Community Action Partnership of Hennepin County. She is one of thousands receiving utility assistance from the organization.
“To have that experience for one of our households, it’s priceless,” said Tammy Alto, director of energy assistance for Community Action Partnership of Hennepin County.
The kitchen remodel giveaway was envisioned as a way to shine a light on the need faced by low-income families throughout Hennepin County.
