Golden Valley Police Arrest Suspect After Man Stabbed in Wirth Park
Golden Valley police are investigating after a teenager stabbed a man during an early-morning crime spree.
According to Police Chief Virgil Green, the stabbing occurred Friday morning at Theodore Wirth Park.
An 18-year-old and a man in his 50s were at the park — possibly using drugs — when they got into a truck together, Green said.
It’s not clear why they got into the vehicle or what transpired once they entered. However, investigators believe they got into an argument.
The 18-year-old stabbed the older man in the leg and the vehicle crashed into a wooded area, Green said.

Golden Valley Police Chief Virgil Green said an 18-year-old stabbed a man at Theodore Wirth Park on Friday.
The victim’s stab wounds are not life threatening, police said.
The teen fled the scene, then broke into a nearby home. Green said he stole an e-bike and used it to flee to another Minneapolis park.
Police later found the suspect “half naked” inside a park maintenance building, Green said.
“This surprised me being in Golden Valley,” Green said. “You know, coming from a bigger city where I come from, and much more type of crime, this was surprising because Golden Valley is a real quiet community, you don’t see these things happen often.”
According to Green, assault and burglary charges are pending.
The suspect may also be a person of interest in a car crash that killed an 11-year-old girl last week in Independence.
