Berg said the fire had engulfed much of the the home and spread to the garage when firefighters arrived.
There was also a downed powerline that had hit a van in the driveway and may have contributed to the fire.
It took about 45 minutes to get the fire under control, and firefighters were on the scene for about five hours.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The family is receiving support from the Red Cross and has posted fundraisers on GoFundMe and Meal Train.
