Family IDs 6-Year-Old Girl Killed in Brooklyn Center Minibike Crash

Family members have identified the 6-year-old girl who was killed when a minibike and car collided on a Brooklyn Center street on Aug. 27.

According to a GoFundMe page set up by a family member, Dreme Williams was killed in the crash. 

Another child under 10 years old was also riding the minibike at the time of the crash. Police listed that child as hospitalized in critical condition last week.

“There are truly no words that can describe the pain of losing a child so young and so suddenly,” wrote Vonetta Reid, Williams’ aunt, on the GoFundMe page. “Dreme had her whole life ahead of her, and our family was not prepared to say goodbye. She was only 6. She should still be here making us laugh, celebrating birthdays, going to school, playing, growing, and creating memories with the people who loved her. Dreme was a bright, energetic, loving, and feisty little girl with a personality you simply could not miss. If Dreme was around, you knew it. She brought so much life and energy wherever she went. One of the things I will miss most as her auntie is her sweet, high-pitched little voice. I can still hear it in my mind, and I would give anything to hear her call my name one more time.”

The crash occurred near the intersection of 63rd Avenue and Brooklyn Drive. 

There is now a memorial for Williams set up near the intersection.

Her family is asking for help with the funeral expenses. As of Sept. 1, their GoFundMe campaign has raised $5,860 of its $7,500 goal.

“Our family is now faced with the unimaginable responsibility of planning her homegoing and saying goodbye,” Reid wrote. “Because Dreme’s passing was so sudden and tragic, our family was not financially prepared for the unexpected expenses.”
