Dick’s House of Sport Plans Destination Maple Grove Store
Plans for a new destination Dick’s House of Sport store have come forward to Maple Grove that will serve as the anchor of a proposed retail development.
The Dick’s House of Sport would be a two-story building of 100,000 square feet at the northeast corner of Maple Grove Parkway and 99th Avenue. That’s in the northern part of the city across from Target and south of Highway 610.
The plans also include a nearly 20,000-square-foot Golf Galaxy store, as well as three outparcels to accommodate a Chick-fil-A restaurant, a 7 Brew coffee shop and a Valvoline Instant Oil Change facility.
The Maple Grove Planning Commission is expected to review the plans at its Sept. 14 meeting.
Joe Hogeboom, the city’s community and economic development director, recently announced the plans would be coming forward to the commission.
“It would be a House of Sport similar in size and scope to what you see at Ridgedale,” said Hogeboom.
The site was previously approved for a Hy-Vee grocery store, gas station and car wash in 2017, according to city planning documents. That project did not come to fruition.
“While this is a large development, and one of the more significant retail developments the city has seen in a number of years, it is straightforward,” read city planning documents. “With the uses proposed, and the proximity to the high school and Fernbrook Fields, staff anticipates a very successful project.”
