‘Cinema of the Macabre’ Ready To Spook Moviegoers at Emagine Willow Creek
As we creep closer to Halloween, a Plymouth movie theater is encouraging people to celebrate spooky season by watching some scary movies.
Horror fans can enjoy “Cinema of the Macabre,” a weekly film series, taking place at Emagine Willow Creek in Plymouth. It will include a selection of cult classics and obscure gems hand-picked by staff member and horror aficionado Tim Holly.
One of the films is the 1971 horror drama “The Devils,” directed by Ken Russell.
Holly told CCX News that “Cinema of the Macabre” is all about recreating an experience that only a theater full of moviegoers can offer.
“Seeing it with a crowd is really a special, unique experience,” said Holly. “As a kid, I saw a handful of movies that way, and it burned into my brain in a way like ‘I want to recreate this experience as much as possible.’ So building a community that can come out and experience it like that is really fun.”
“Cinema of the Macabre” is now in its fifth year.
The films are shown on Monday nights at Emagine Willow Creek. Tickets are usually $7. There’s other events, too, including the 2026 Super Spookshow Spectacular! held on Saturday, Oct. 17.
