Champlin Park Student Found Shot to Death in Ramsey
Students and staff at Champlin Park High School are mourning the loss of a student who police say was shot to death in Ramsey.
Diamond Manly, 18, a senior at Champlin Park, was found unresponsive in a vehicle early Sunday morning. The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the case and calling the death a homicide.
The investigation into his death continued Tuesday with no arrests made.
Manly’s parents told media outlets that they have no idea why anyone would want to kill their son.
In a statement provided to families, Champlin Park Principal Michael George said the school is providing resources to help classmates and staff process the difficult news.
“We care about all of our students at Champlin Park High School and will have resources in place to provide support for them,” said George in a letter to families. “The death of a classmate may be difficult for some students, even if they didn’t really know the student.”
The Champlin Park tragedy follows the death of a Maple Grove Senior High School student who died of apparent sudden cardiac arrest while doing a track workout last week near the school.
