Carol Kleven, Former Brooklyn Center Council Member, Dies at 94
Carol Kleven, a former Brooklyn Center City Council member, has died, according to an announcement from her family.
Kleven was 94 years old.
She served one term on the city council from 2011 through 2014.
According to her obituary, Kleven’s late husband encouraged her to run for office when he was frustrated by the city’s garage sale sign regulations.
So, at age 80, Kleven knocked on doors and won election to city council.
Kleven is survived by four childen, 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, her obituary read.
A celebration of her life will take place Saturday, Feb. 15, at Washburn-McReavy Glen Haven Chapel, 5125 West Broady in Crystal. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. with a service at 11 a.m. and reception after at the chapel.
