Animal Humane Society To Build New Golden Valley Pet Clinic
The Animal Humane Society in Golden Valley is moving forward with plans to build a new pet clinic, a significant expansion of its existing campus, city officials announced.
Plans call for a new two-story, 13,000-square-foot pet clinic at its Golden Valley location at 845 Meadow Ln. N.
The Golden Valley City Council approved a planned unit development amendment at its July 7 meeting, allowing the project to proceed.
To make room for the new clinic, the Animal Humane Society intends to demolish a 5,600-square-foot storage building that would allow for construction along the northern portion of the property, city documents showed.
The new clinic will provide general veterinary services to the public. It will include exam rooms, treatment areas, a surgery suite, a dental suite and supporting clinical spaces. The second floor will contain administrative offices and support space for clinic operations.
The proposed development will integrate with the existing Animal Humane Society campus, read a press release from the city. The site will also be restructured to accommodate additional parking.
“The proposed clinic will expand AHS’s ability to provide accessible and affordable veterinary care to the broader community,” read a project narrative in planning documents. “The project represents a logical expansion of the existing AHS campus and supports the organization’s mission to improve animal welfare and provide veterinary services to the public.”

CCX News reached out to the Animal Humane Society for further comment. An official with the nonprofit said a press event is expected in August when further construction details would be revealed.
The Animal Humane Society, a nonprofit, has been been located in Golden Valley since the 1930s. Its current main building was constructed in the 1960s with a nearly 30,000-square-foot addition built in 1999, city documents showed.
The nonprofit offers adoption of rescued animals, veterinary services and training services.
