A Slice of History: Robbinsdale’s Broadway Pizza Celebrates 60 Years
A beloved Robbinsdale staple hit a major milestone this year. Broadway Pizza and Eagles Nest Lounge is officially celebrating 60 years of serving up square slices of pizza.
The independent, family-owned restaurant, located right along Bottineau Boulevard, first opened its doors on June 1, 1966. Six decades later, it is still standing tall.
“It’s quite the milestone to be in business that long,” said Brad Eagles, owner of Broadway Pizza and Eagles Nest Lounge.
While staying in the restaurant business for 60 years is no small feat, Eagles says the recipe for their longevity is simple.
“A good quality pizza. It starts there,” says Eagles, whose great-uncle originally started the business. “We make everything from scratch. Our sauce, our sausage, we cut and grind our own cheese, make our own dough.”

But beyond the food, Eagles credits the restaurant’s staying power to the deep roots they’ve planted in Robbinsdale. The real secret to their success is their fiercely loyal, multi-generational customer base.
“We have a lot of regular customers, you know, they’re in their third, fourth generations,” Eagles said. “Their parents started coming here way back in the day, and then kids and grandkids. It’s kind of a family tradition for a lot of people. We hear those stories all the time.”
A unique location
While you might see the Broadway Pizza name across the Twin Cities metro area, the Robbinsdale location stands out from the crowd. All other locations are part of a franchise, but the Robbinsdale restaurant remains completely independently-owned.
Additionally, while Broadway Pizza is famous for its classic, tavern-style square-cut slices, they are always happy to accommodate their guests. If you aren’t a fan of the squares, you can simply request a traditional pie-style cut.
