Robbinsdale Reminds Pet Owners of Park Rules
Everyone is welcome at Robbinsdale Parks.
“We love seeing pets in the park. We love seeing people out enjoying the parks,” said Robbinsdale Recreation Services Director Matt Bazyk.
But, there’s a few rules pet owners are asked to follow to keep all park-goers safe.

Sign of park pet rules in Robbinsdale.
First, dogs must be leashed.
“It says a six-foot leash in our city code, so a six-foot leash. They must stay on that at all times,” said Bazyk. “As much as we love them, they’ll take off after a wild goose, without asking first. You never know what they are going to do.”
Also, keep pets off the ball field.
“You wouldn’t take a kid to play in a dog park, for the same reason, we don’t want your dogs playing where the kids play,” said Bazyk. “You know, health issues there, but keep them off the ball fields.”
If you want to let your dogs roam freely, there’s a place for that in Robbinsdale.
“There is a dedicated dog park by Sochacki Park if you are looking to run off a leash,” said Bazyk. “At this point, that’s the place where you can go and do that and we would love people to use that space.”
Whether you’re at the dog park or regular park, remember to properly dispose of your pet’s waste.
“Pick up after your pet. Make sure you get those bags to the trash can. Sometimes people like to put the bags next to the trash can or on the ground,” said Bazyk.
Bazyk hopes that with pet owners doing their part, parks will be a space where everyone feels welcomed.
“Everyone’s dog is the best dog in the world. They would never do anything. But not everyone is a dog person though. We want to make sure that if people aren’t comfortable around dogs, that they still feel comfortable in our parks,” said Bazyk.
