Robbinsdale Offered Water Treatment Plant Tours for National Public Works Week
Richard McCoy, Robbinsdale’s director of public works, thought there was one way to properly celebrate National Public Works Week, which was May 19-23.

Robbinsdale offered tours of its water treatment plant during National Public Works Week May 19-23.
“What better facility to invite the public in to come and look at? In our new drinking water treatment plant, all of the residents benefit from what this plant does, so having them come in and having a bit of a look behind the scenes,” said McCoy. “That might get them to understand the processes that go into making safe drinking water.”
The plant, which went online in 2022, has won numerous awards for its design and operation, said McCoy.
“This facility is a magnificent facility,” he said. “Even the folk in the industry at high levels recognize this plant as being a fantastic facility. We’re proud of it. We want the residents who helped to pay for this to have an opportunity to come in and see what it’s all about.”
McCoy said about 70 people came through during the week for tours, and there could be more in the future.
“I think we’ve seen a latent demand for wanting to sign up to do the tours, so I do think there will be opportunity for us to offer tours more regularly and have folks sign up to come in and have a look,” said McCoy. “I’m happy for as many people who want to come in and take a look to do so.”
