Osseo Mayor Duane Poppe Talks About Progress On Cannabis Store
The City of Osseo continues on its path toward opening one of the state’s first municipal cannabis outlets later this year.
Demolition is nearly completed on the site of the former Press building near downtown.
“We’ve finalized the build-out for the layout of it. At the same time, we’re talking to a group that’s talking about taking the other side of the building, so there’s a couple of groups that have some interest in that,” said Mayor Duane Poppe.
Poppe said plans remain on-track for an opening for the outlet as early as October.
He also said the cannabis operation factors in the city’s search for a new finance director as Gary Groen retires.
“We want to get somebody into that position to help understand and have that institutional knowledge that he can pass along about the city, what’s going on, and, also, be able to handle the cannabis side of things, with the reporting of things to the state, because that’s going to add some extra workload,” said Poppe.
