Mayor’s Minutes: Maple Grove’s Mark Steffenson
Maple Grove Mayor Mark Steffenson spoke recently with CCX Media’s Dave Kiser about upcoming events and developments in the city.
He mentioned the continued expansion of Boston Scientific in its footprint in the city, including the newest building near the intersection of U.S. Highway 169 and Interstate 694.
“That’s coming along really well, and they’re already expanding on their existing Boston Scientific location off of Weaver Lake Road,” said Steffenson.
Steffenson also heralded the new business BioMADE.
“It’s a first of a kind bio-engineering project that is supported heavily by the Defense Department and the State of Minnesota,” said Steffenson of the business, which will operate in an existing building on Jefferson Highway.
Maple Grove Days
Maple Grove Days is July 16-20 this year, with the annual parade on July 17.
Steffenson reported that because of on-going construction at the Maple Grove Community Center, and its parking lot, most of the non-parade activities will take place at Central Park instead.
Firefighter Recruitment
Maple Grove Fire Rescue is in the process of recruiting new paid on-call firefighters.
There will be a series of upcoming recruitment meetings this summer:

Monday, July 14 | 7 p.m. | Fire Station 2, 13450 Maple Knoll Way
“We have great firefighters here in the city. You get paid for it, and you get to do something that’s great for the community,” said Steffenson. “If you’re interested, we look forward to you participating.”
