Maple Grove’s New Assistant Community Economic Development Director “Makes Sure City Thrives”

Jesse Anderson started as the City of Maple Grove’s new assistant community economic development director in early 2026, after more than a decade in a similar role for the City of Brooklyn Center.

“It’s an exciting role,” said Anderson. “My primary goal is economic development. So, I do a lot of work with the businesses, I make sure those businesses are doing well in the city, a lot of engagement, and also trying to find new businesses to come to the city, so really making sure Maple Grove is thriving in the business community.”

Anderson said he recently talked with business owners along Main Street about the city’s ChalkFest, which this year shifted its location slightly. 

“These big events, they bring a lot of people to our city, so you want to make sure everything’s looking good and it’s benefitting our businesses in our community,” he said.

Anderson mentioned a couple of openings expected by the end of the summer, including: L.L Bean, Mo’ Bettah Hawaiian Style Food, and Tiffany’s Kitchen & Bar (in the old TGI Friday’s location). He also touted the on-going expansion of Boston Scientific’s two locations in the city, as well as Life Time Fitness’ recent groundbreaking for its new location.
