Crystal Frolics Return to Welcome Park July 24-26
Crystal Frolics return this year July 24-26 at Welcome Park.
“The Frolics are back,” said committee member Lynn Haney. “We are here to entertain, and we are here to bring community together and make Crystal sparkle!”
The softball tournament goes on all three days, beginning Friday evening and wrapping up Sunday evening, said Haney. She said Friday night will also feature bingo, Saturday all day will be a family festival with games, prizes, dancing, llama walks, inflatables, and more. Sunday, there’s a kickball game at 1:00, and Saturday night at 10:00 are the fireworks.
“They’re going to be big this year,” said Haney. “They’re going to be good. We’ve missed seeing, the last few years, a really good (fireworks) display.”
Also on Saturday morning at Basset Creek Park is the 5K run to benefit NEAR Food Shelf.
New this year, said Haney, are food trucks, which will be on hand starting at 5:00 p.m. Friday, all day Saturday through the start of fireworks, and all day Sunday until the end of softball.
“Crystal Frolics is a tradition that’s been going on since the early 1950s,” said Haney. “One thing that stays the same is that it’s a place for people to come together and reminisce about the old days. A lot of people will say it’s like a big class reunion.”
