Brooklyn Park’s Accessory Dwelling Units Discussion is “Important,” Says Mayor Winston

Brooklyn Park Mayor Hollies Winston calls the city council’s current discussions about accessory dwelling units in the city “important.”

“Basically it’s a unit people can build in their backyard where somebody can live,” Mayor Winston told CCX Media’s Dave Kiser during a taping of the quarterly Mayor’s Minutes segment. “So, as a city, we need to make sure it works with the overall character of the city, we want to make sure it’s safe, we also want to help folks that are trying to meet those overall needs for their family. We want to see if we can make that happen. It’s an important discussion.”

Winston also talked about the on-going registration for the upcoming annual National Night Out parties on Tuesday, August 4.

“Crime is down. We’re at a 36-year low. A lot of that has to do with residents working with our police,” Winston told Kiser. “This is a place to kind of recognize all of that. National Night Out is incredibly important. As a city, we do very well in participation. We want that to continue as well.”
