Sports Jam, November 20, 2017
On this week’s CCX Media’s Sports Jam, highlights from the state adapted soccer tournament as the Park Center CI Division team wins its third straight championship while Robbinsdale-Hopkins finishes second in the PI Division. Plus highlights from state girls swimming and diving and Maple Grove’s loss to Eden Prairie in the state football playoffs. Also this week John Jacobson and Jay Wilcox reveal the choices for the 2017 Sports Jam all-area teams in volleyball and boys and girls soccer, and Jay talks with the Wayzata Trojans about this weekend’s Turkey Trot boys hockey tournament. Plus highlights from state volleyball and section swimming. In our Sports Jam Spotlight segment Jason Melillo profiles Maple Grove running back Evan Hull who has rushed for over 2000 yards and 19 touchdowns this season. In our Sports Jam Spotlight segment Jason Melillo profiles Osseo brother and sister Kelsie and Tyler Sealock. Kelsie is a junior volleyball player for the Orioles while Bryce is the third Sealock to play football at Osseo. Also on the program Jay Wilcox talks with Cooper football players Phoenix Sproles, Adam Cook and Terrance Nicholson about the Hawks’ win over Armstrong and the team’s 5-0 start to the season. In our Sports Jam Spotlight segment John Jacobson profiles Champlin Park football player Joey Faulds who moved from linebacker to quarterback late in the off-season and has helped the Rebels get off to a 3-1 start. Also on the program Jay Wilcox talks with Maple Grove volleyball players Skylar Gray and Ali Hinze and head coach Sean Haugen. The Crimson (11-0) are off to the best start in the program’s history. Also highlights from prep soccer, swimming, volleyball and more. In our Sports Jam Spotlight segment Jay Wilcox highlights the play of Armstrong volleyball standout Lauren Clark. The junior is one of the top hitters in the state and has verbally committed to playing college volleyball at Penn State. Also on the program John Jacobson talks with Maple Grove girls soccer players Zyah Alam and Jasmine Gates and head coach Ben LeVahn as the Crimson (8-1) have risen to the top of the Northwest Suburban Conference standings. In our Sports Jam Spotlight segment Jason Melillo profiles Wayzata High School junior linebacker Jake Ogle who plays varsity football at the school but who stars on the soccer field the rest of the year. Also on the show John Jacobson talks with three new members of the Osseo High School Athletic Hall of Fame—Ken Smith (Class of 1953), Mike Ach (1981) and Katherine Krambeer (2003).
