Rebels turn back challenge from Elk River in volleyball
Champlin Park is still the team to beat in Northwest Suburban Conference volleyball. The Rebels beat another of the top teams in the conference, Elk River, in three sets Tuesday.

Maple Grove sweeps Wayzata to stay unbeaten in volleyball
The Maple Grove volleyball team won the Hopkins tournament Saturday, then came back to sweep Wayzata Monday night. The victory improved the Crimson record to 10-0 this season.

Totino-Grace tops Champlin Park in boys soccer
Herbert Endeley and Stevenson Lamarre scored two goals apiece in the first half as the Totino-Grace boys soccer team beat Champlin Park 4-1 Monday night. The Eagles are now 8-0 this season and face Blake in a non-conference match on Thursday. The loss broke a four-game winning streak for the Rebels.

Cooper crushes nemesis Spring Lake Park
After years of not being able to beat Spring Lake Park, the Cooper football team changed that in a big way Friday. The Hawks crushed the Panthers 44-7 to improve to 3-0 this season.

Armstrong crushes Hopkins in football
The Armstrong football team scored on two very long passing plays in the first quarter to build a 14-0 lead on the way to a 31-6 win over Hopkins. The Falcons improved to 2-1 this season.

The Champlin Park volleyball team faced another top team, Armstrong, in the Northwest Suburban Conference Thursday night. The Rebels answered the challenge winning in four sets.

Benilde tops Jefferson in volleyball
Benilde-St. Magaret’s volleyball team swept Bloomington Jefferson in three sets to win their ninth match of the season. The Red Knights (9-1) beat the Jaguars 27-25 in the first set and won 25-20 and 25-21 in the final two sets.

Breck tops Maple Grove in girls tennis
Breck’s girls tennis team swept all three doubles matches and split the four singles matches as the Mustangs beat Maple Grove 5-2 on Wednesday. The Mustangs, one of the top teams in Class “A”, are now 7-1 this season.

The Champlin Park football team is off to a strong 2-0 start this fall after making it to the state Class AAAAAA semifinals last season. The No. 3-ranked Rebels will face a tough foe on the road this week as they take on No. 9-ranked St. Michael-Albertville.

The Armstrong volleyball team improved its season record to 7-1 with a four-set win over Osseo Tuesday. The Orioles won the first set before the Falcons rallied to win the next three. Lauren Clark had 17 kills to lead the Falcons.

Despite playing a strong first half, Champlin Park's boys soccer team trailed Park Center 2-0 at halftime after Pirate goalkeeper Hassan Kamara made several big saves. The Rebels didn't stop generating chances though, and score twice in the second half and twice in overtime to beat Park Center 4-2.

The Champlin Park girls soccer team broke a 1-1 halftime tie scoring five goals in the second half to beat Park Center 6-1 Tuesday night. Alex Lotts scored twice and added an assist for the Rebels (1-2). The Pirates dropped to 0-3 with the loss.

The Armstrong girls soccer team has most of its players back from a team that was 11-3-3 last fall. The Falcons did lose their season opener to a good Edina team last week, and they have their Northwest Suburban Conference opener Tuesday night.
