Ash tree removal begins at Edinburgh USA golf course
Brooklyn Park's Edinburgh USA golf course is starting the long process of removing and treating ash trees. So far, 150 trees have been removed from the front nine. Other ash trees on the front nine will be treated against the emerald ash borer because they have been deemed essential to the playability of the course.

This action is the first step in a 10-year process to combat what could be a catastrophic and expensive loss of trees because of the pest.

"We have 800 ash trees on property, if there were all to die at the same time, we don't have the money to remove and clean up all of those trees, so we are planning on doing a specific dollar amount of work each year," said Matt Olsonoski, golf course superintendent at Edinburgh USA.

Some trees will be replaced. Work will continue next year.
