Armstrong baseball will build around pitching staff
It's a young team with some promise this spring in the Armstrong baseball program.
The Falcons do have some quality pitchers returning, led by Jerick Kuznia and Mitchell Waletzki.
Armstrong took its annual spring trip to Kansas last week on spring break, and although the weather wasn't ideal, they did get a chance to look at some of the newcomers to the varsity.
The Falcons won section championships in 2014 and 2015, but after winning their playoff opener last spring, they lost the next two and were eliminated.
Changing that early exit is goal number one for the Falcons, who open the 2017 season Saturday afternoon against district rival Cooper on the Hawks home field.
Armstrong's varsity field is being re-done this season, so home games will be played at the New Hope Lighted Field on 49th and Boone.
