Residents in Brooklyn Center are mourning the death of a long time educator. Douglas Rossi died Sunday after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Rossi was 82.
Rossi worked in the Brooklyn Center and Osseo school districts where he wore many hats. During his 37-year career, he was a teacher, principal and superintendent. The Brooklyn Center High School auditorium is named after him. Friends and former coworkers say they will miss the man who taught valuable lessons to many.
"He always gave everybody respect and having been a teacher I think he kind of understood and had empathy for all the people that were in the trenches, working with kids," said George Larson, friend and former coworker.
Douglas Rossi's funeral service will be held Thursday, April 6, at Lutheran Church of the Master in Brooklyn Center. Visitation is at 10 a.m., followed by the service at 11 a.m.
