Area art teachers get a chance to show their own creative side with an art show going on at the Maple Grove Arts Center.
“It’s the second time we've done the teacher's show, which is District 279, and we've got a wide variety of different teachers from different schools and also different mediums they've used in their art,” said Caroline Munro of the Maple Grove Arts Center.
The show is at the new Maple Grove Arts Center behind the Costco and next door to Wedding Day Diamonds in the Fountains at Arbor Lakes.
These are teachers that are educating your kids about art in District 279 at schools such as Maple Grove, Osseo and Park Center High Schools, as well as at Brooklyn, Maple Grove, Northview, and Osseo Middle Schools. These artists have chosen to teach but are still active with their own creative endeavors.
Munro gave CCX News reporter Neil Pursley a quick overview of the variety of art at the show: “We've got some beautiful acrylic here on canvas. We have some painting on ceramics. We have some fine watercolor, some inks, we have some fiber art. We have driftwood, we have find it all in your junk drawer type of art, throw it all together mixed medium."
There’s a little bit of everything for all tastes.
“It’s so wonderful to see what the teachers are doing in their spare time. They spend all of their time with their kids, helping their students learn their art," said Munro. "It’s nice to see them still finding time to hone their own skills and express themselves through their art.”
The quality, skill, and creative level of the District 279 teachers' art is worth a stop in the Maple Grove Arts Center.
There is an artist’s reception Friday April 7th from 6:30p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
