Two men were charged Tuesday in connection with a weekend shooting near a gas station at 63rd and Zane Avenues in Brooklyn Park. Police say the incident involved an officer getting shot at.
The incident occurred Sunday when a police officer was on routine patrol and witnessed an altercation involving a gun between two groups of individuals. The officer saw one individual fire a shot at another person, and he then gave chase and located a suspect. According to the criminal complaint, as the officer was arresting a suspect, a second suspect fired a shot at the officer."We
had a lot of support on Facebook page for the police officer the night and day
after it happened. We're still investigating. We're very appreciative seeing
the community come out and really support the police department," said Brooklyn Park Deputy Police Chief Mark Bruley.
Steven Cordell Graham, 22, of Brooklyn Park was charged with one count of second degree assault with a dangerous weapon.Tyler Glenn Graham, 21, of Shakopee was charged with two counts of assault, one against a peace officer.
Bruley added that Brooklyn Park police recovered three handguns involved in the incident. He said that the investigation is ongoing and police are still looking for individuals connected to the incident. Anyone with information is encouraged to call Brooklyn Park police.
