Maple Grove rolls in regular season girls hockey finale
Maple Grove is aiming for a repeat visit to the state Class AA girls hockey tournament, and they've been one of the state's premier teams all season.

They beat a young Wayzata team 8-1 Tuesday night at Plymouth Ice Center in the last tuneup for the playoffs. The Crimson scored four times in the first period, with Taylor Wente netting two of the goals.

The Crimson added four more in a dominant second period, with Maia Martinez scoring twice. It's the 20th win of the season for the Crimson.

Maple Grove is the No. 2 seed behind Blaine in the Section 5AA tournament and they face Champlin Park in the quarterfinals Saturday at Roseville Arena.

Wayzata is the No. 4 seed in Section 6AA and they play Benilde-St. Margaret's in the quarterfinals Saturday at Parade Ice Garden in Minneapolis.
