Minneapolis Boat Show a big deal for Crystal dealer
Step inside the cavernous Minneapolis Convention Center this weekend and you will see, well... a boatload of boats.

"Land of 10,000 Lakes," said Marjory Ryan of Duluth. "Something for everybody."

From luxury cruisers to pontoons to Sea-Doos, the Minneapolis Boat Show is a boat lovers paradise. Attendance is expected to be 40,000 in four days.

For Midwest Water Sports in Crystal the boat show is a really big deal and one of its yearly highlights.

"For people who sell boats for a living, this is our Super Bowl," said David Gee of Midwest Water Sports.

At Midwest Water Sports, the boat show is a chance to showcase its fleet of water craft to a target demo that is eager to buy.

"Last year in the Twin Cities, 308 tow boats were sold in this segment at an average price of $94,000," Gee said.

Gee says being at the Boat Show can definitely boost business.

"It's kind of a necessity actually because, one, the competition's here, but our new customers are as well," Gee said.

Minnesota is fourth in the nation behind Texas, Michigan and Florida in yearly boat sales.

"Boats are expensive," Gee said. "There's no way around that. But it's hard to put a price on fun and family time."

Typically the Minneapolis Boat Show is five days long in late January, but was moved up because the Super Bowl Experience is at the Minneapolis Convention Center in a couple of weeks.
