They were on a collision course all season. Wayzata and Minneapolis Washburn are two of the best teams in the state, and they both play in Section 6AA.
Wayzata beat the Millers for the title two seasons ago, while Washburn came out on top last season. This time Wayzata prevailed 2-1.
After a scoreless first half, the Trojans broke the deadlock as Sophie Triplett won a race to a loose ball and knocked it ahead to Emily Dillon, who scored to make it 1-0.
Eva Bruer intercepted a clearing attempt and added another goal to make it 2-0, and with some key saves from Madison Lo, the Trojans held off the Millers for a 2-1 win to take the section championship.
