Wayzata and Maple Grove were each making return trips to the state Class AAAA baseball tournament, although each had a lot of new faces in the lineup this spring.
The sting of an opening round loss was forgotten by the time the teams met in the consolation final. Wayzata scored a pair of runs in the top of the first inning, then added three more runs in the third and five in the fourth on the way to an 11-3 victory over the Crimson.
Tyler Young was 3-for-3 for the Trojans, while Charles Engdahl drove in three runs with a bases-loaded double.
Jerome Gooley was 2-for-2 with an RBI for Maple Grove.
