Rebels hold off Crimson in NWSC baseball
Despite a lot of new players in the lineup this spring, expectations remain high for the Champlin Park and Maple Grove baseball teams.

They met Tuesday in the opener for Maple Grove and the second game for Champlin Park.

Champlin Park's Cole Albers hit a solo homerun in the top of the first inning, and Joey Simon singled in Quinn Viktora later in the inning to give the Rebels a 2-0 lead.

Champlin Park starting pitcher Max Loven was perfect through three innings, but Maple Grove got on the board in the fourth as Luke Hanson singled in Hayden Thomsen.

Maple Grove threatened in the bottom of the seventh, loading the bases.

But Rebels sophomore Brady Higgins got his second save in two games by striking out the only hitter he faced to preserve a 2-1 win.
